FORJOY

ABOUT US

The Brand

Inspired by the energy of early-2000s culture and vintage design, forJOY treats jerseys as fashion-forward pieces rather than simple athletic garments. The brand focuses on authenticity, emotion, and community—values often lost in large commercial sportswear systems.

The name “forJOY” itself carries a deeply personal meaning. When Saputo’s grandparents immigrated, writing his name in English was difficult, and they often wrote it simply as “Joy.” Over time, the nickname became symbolic of their spirit—joyful people who valued family, togetherness, and celebration. Mission forJOY is built around that same idea: creating pieces that evoke joy not only for those who wear them, but also for the people who design and build the brand.

Although the brand is rooted in Saputo’s personal journey, the long-term vision extends far beyond one individual. Mission forJOY aims to grow into a community-driven global football and fashion brand, one that celebrates creativity, cultural expression, and the power of passion.

Mission forJOY was founded by Joey Saputo Jr., a designer raised at the intersection of football culture, family heritage, and fashion. Growing up in Montreal alongside his three brothers, Saputo was immersed in the professional football world through his family’s club CF Montréal. With Italian immigrant grandparents and a household where football was always playing in the background, the sport became part of everyday life from an early age.

Alongside football came an early appreciation for style and craftsmanship. Influenced heavily by his mother and Italian fashion heritage, Saputo developed a deep respect for materials, design, and the emotional connection people form with clothing. Jerseys were never just uniforms, they are cultural artifacts that carried identity, pride, and storytelling.

From a young age Saputo was exposed to the creative process behind professional kit design, attending jersey meetings through the Club and studying the details that shape iconic football shirts. Over time, what began as notebooks filled with jersey sketches evolved into professional work. Saputo has since grown into a leading role in football design, contributing concept and design work for CF Montréal kits and collaborating with global sportswear partners including Adidas and Macron. His recent work has also included involvement in jersey design projects connected to Bologna FC.

Mission forJOY exists because creativity is not always accepted within traditional professional environments. The mission is to change that, creating a space where football design, fashion, and artistic freedom can coexist, and where joy remains at the center of the culture.

These are Joey's personal, past design credits as an individual freelancer — Mission forJOY itself is an independent brand with no current affiliation, license, sponsorship, or partnership with CF Montréal, Adidas, Macron, Bologna FC, or any football club, federation, or manufacturer. Our jerseys are original, unlicensed designs inspired by football culture.
